Singlet Exciton Fission Sensitized Solar Cells
In my PhD I plan to explore the physics behind singlet exciton fission in organic materials and its use in photovoltaics to reach efficiencies beyond the Shockley-Queisser limit. I will use optical transient absorption (TA) measurements to understand the dynamics of states involved down to a sub-ps resolution. Applying a static magnetic field on the sample in the TA setup will allow further analysis of spin states with differing couplings to the magnetic field. A better understanding of the mechanisms behind singlet exciton fission will help designing more efficient solar cells.
