Research
Originally from New Zealand, Dr Hannah Stern works at the Cavendish Laboratory, within the Quantum Optics group headed by Mete Atature. During her Junior Research Fellowship, Hannah is working on localised excitations in wide bandgap 2-dimensional materials that are of interest for quantum applications that require single photons. Recently, she has been interested in investigating the presence of optically-initialised spins in hexagonal-Boron Nitride and potential quantum applications of this technology.
Hannah completed her PhD in the Optoelectronics Group in the Cavendish with Professor Richard Friend on the ultrafast dynamics of singlet exciton fission in organic semiconductors. Hannah was funded as a Winton Scholar.
