Winton Programme for the Physics of Sustainability

Department of Physics

Cavendish inspiring women (CiW) is an initiative started by Winton scholars, Sarah Morgan and Hannah Stern, to bring PhD students and postdocs in the Cavendish Laboratory in contact with inspirational female leaders. The motivation behind the newly formed group is to raise the visibility of successful women, in a bid to inspire younger women to continue their work in science after their training. The group aims to make a difference through hosting lunchtime speaker events, and recently, the production of an outreach booklet to be distributed across UK secondary schools.

They have recently published 'What is so exciting about Physics?' to encourage young high-school-age women into physics, which can be downloaded from their website by following this link.
