Research

Liquid and gel-droplets moved by light on a surface

My research aims to realize functional droplets that can be directed on soft surfaces with light as an external field. DNA will be used to functionalize both the particles and the surface: its amazing properties can be exploited to reach well-controlled binding (and unbinding).

The setup offers a promising novel type of microfluidic device, which could be effectively for the creation of bio-reactors, sensitive sorting devices and drug release systems.
